Mr. Hugh Marion Jones was born in Fitzgerald, GA on, Monday, September 14, 1936, to his parents

Reginald A. and Lillian E. Lunsford Jones,

who precede him in death.

He passed away on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 22, 2018 at Edgewood Health and Rehab in Byram, at the age of 82.



Mr. Jones was a retired band director with the Jackson Public Schools district and was a Baptist by faith, holding membership with the Colonial Heights Baptist Church in Jackson. He was a United States veteran, having served his country with the U.S. Navy.



Survivors include his wife of over 52 years: Mrs. Cheryl Ann Higdon Jones;

three children: Beth Hooper, Will (Joanne) Jones, and Meghan (Marcus) Buffington;

four grandchildren: Breanna Harrison, Caden Buffington, Colton Buffington, and Dylan Hooper;

one sister: Marie Woodin and

one brother: Joseph Henry Jones.



A memorial service celebrating his life will begin at 2:00 pm on Saturday, December 1, 2018 from the Forest Baptist Church, where he and his wife were united in holy matrimony on August 14, 1966.

Military honors will be presented as part of the celebration to give special recognition for his service and sacrifice for the “land of the free and the home of the brave.”
