Leonard E. Jordan, 88, passed away early Saturday morning, November 24, 2018, in Shreveport, La following health complications associated with the onset of dementia and diabetes. A visitation celebrating Leonard’s life will be held from 3-5 pm on Tuesday, Nov 27, at Osborn Funeral Home in Shreveport. A private service for family members will be held at Leonard and Patricia’s (Pat) beloved lakeside second home on Toledo Bend lake.

Born in Jonesboro, La on August 10, 1930, Leonard was the first of two sons born to Hilton Edward and Audie Martin Jordan. While attending college at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, Leonard was active in his Theta Xi fraternity and with the Army Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC). He met the love of his life Patricia A. Jolley, who also graduated from LSU, and the couple married in 1952. After graduating from LSU with a B.S. in Geology, Leonard initially began work in Shreveport, then the couple spent two years in Tyler, Texas, and thereafter ended up in Shreveport where Leonard’s career in the oil and gas business spanned 33 years.

Leonard began his career as an exploration geologist for Arkla Gas Company and retired from Arkla, Inc. in 1984 after serving as its Senior Vice-President of Exploration. Leonard was instrumental in the drilling and development of many wells in the Ark-La-Tex, including the Carthage Field and numerous wells across Central Louisiana and East Texas. In later years, Leonard expanded his business interests and founded his own energy company LEJ Energy LLC, and also became a board director for various successful energy companies both local and international.

During his life, Leonard was a proud member of The Boy Scouts of America, Broadmoor Baptist Church, LSU Geology Foundation, Ducks Unlimited, American Association of Petroleum Geologists, American Institute of Professional Geologists, Society of Independent Professional Earth Scientists, Independent Petroleum Association of America, Shreveport Geological Society, and the Petroleum Club, where he served as a past President and director.

Leonard had a very strong love for the water and the great outdoors, which he often shared every year with his family and friends in North Louisiana and East Texas. Our beloved "Big Daddy" loved to hunt, fish and travel, literally traveling the entire world with his wife Patricia in their pursuit of the activities they loved so much.

Leonard is survived by his wife of 66 years, Patricia Jolley Jordan; and his brother, Martin Jordan from North Richland Hills, Texas. Leonard (“Big Daddy”) and Patricia (“Gam”) have two daughters, Kathy Jordan Ware and her husband, Del; Linda Jordan Turner and her husband, Joe; and one son, Keith Edward Jordan and his wife, Pamela; along with grandchildren, Stacey Steele and husband, Donnan, Shane Turner and wife, Annie, Ashley Harris and husband, Jason, Rachel Miller and husband, Kurt, and Austin Jordan; great-grandchildren, Clara, Edie and Carter Steele, Landon and Sam Turner, and Annie Walker-Jordan.

The family would like to thank Dr. Rick Michael, The Chateau Assisted Living Care, the many around the clock personal sitters from Preferred Care and Aime Hospice Care for their loving care of Leonard during his last months and days. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the LSU Geology Department in Leonard’s name at: LSU, Department of Geology and Geophysics, E235 Howe Russell Geoscience Complex, Baton Rouge, LA 70803.
