Barbara Ann Hanson was born on August 25, 1948 at East Dallas Hospital in Dallas, TX to mother and father, Elmer Levi Hutchison and Ila Idel Daniel where they started their family life with their five older brothers in Rylie, TX. She started school at Rylie Elementary School and due to her father’s work with Sears, they moved back and forth from several locations before finally settling in Pleasant Grove of Dallas, TX. She attended W.W. Samuell High School graduating in the spring of 1966. The next year she attended Abilene Christian College for 2 ½ years. Barbara was baptized in 1969 at Main Street Church of Christ in Big Spring, TX. In the summer of 1969 she met and fell in love with Melvin Gene Hanson. They married on November 29, 1969 and had 3 children: Christie Anne, Caron Renee and Casey Lynn. They were married 29 ½ years when he passed away. After that, Barbara continued to stay in Mesquite, TX and work at the Mesquite Community Hospital. In February 2014, Barbara was diagnosed with right breast cancer and after chemo and radiation was doing well. In January of 2018, the cancer came back and unfortunately metastasized to her brain, lung and liver. Her treatment no longer worked and after a valiant battle, she passed away on November 22nd, 2018.

She was preceded in death by both her parents, her husband, and her oldest brother, Will Parker. She is survived by her 3 children; Christie, Caron and Casey, her daughter in law, Haley, four very loved grandchildren; Amber, Zachary, Emily and Ella Lynne, 4 brothers; Bobby Parker and wife Mary, Don Parker and wife Jeanette, C.A. Parker and wife Judy, Robert Hutchison, sister in law, Elsie Parker as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of very good friends from all areas of Texas.

Barbara believed in the power of prayer and was so appreciative of each and every one she received. The prayers always worked!

A visitation will be held at Anderson-Clayton-Gonzalez Funeral Home located at 1111 Military Parkway, Mesquite, TX 75228 on Thursday, November 29th from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Funeral service will be held on Friday, November 30th at 11:00 am at Mesquite Church of Christ with interment following at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Seagoville, TX.
