Amelia Sharp (1907) arrived in Canada in May 1923 aboard the SS Montcalm to Saint John. She was part of a group sent to Canada thru Liverpool Sheltering Homes (L. Birt) to work as a domestic. She also had a brother George (1910) who arrived at Quebec City in June of 1923 aboard the SS Regina. George was sent as a child labourer to Canada also through the Liverpool Sheltering Home ( L. Birt). My father Sydney Griffin (1912 Hastings) arrived on the same ship as George. George worked for Daniel McGregor for many years On a farm adjacent to the farm my Dad worked on. Amelia did not marry and died suddenly in her twenties.
I like to think they are not forgotten just because they were BHC who were shipped off as indentured workers to Canada.
The picture shows (we think) Amelia second from left. Also included is a ship's list of the group of children which included Amelia arriving at Marchmont home in Bellevillle. There is also a picture of a woman who we believe to be Amelia the mother of George and Amelia which was found in George's trunk.
