Alice Catherine Sowers Causey, 89, of Thomasville passed away Wednesday November 21, 2018 at Curis at Thomasville Rehabilitation with her loving family by her side. Alice was born January 27, 1929 to the late James Thomas Sowers and Bessie Mae Duncan Sowers in Davidson County. She worked many years in the furniture industry at Thomasville Furniture where she operated the glue machine. She had a great talent for writing songs and poems; and also had a love for country music. Alice had a big heart for others, and would donate board games to the VA hospital and even would bake cakes and take to the Thomasville Police Department for the officers to enjoy. After a hard time in Alice's life, when her son passed, she would go to Kathy's Restaurant in Thomasville, and spend many hours there with the staff helping out. Along with her parents she was preceded in death by one son, Colin Grayson Dickens, two sisters, Vivian Small, Helen McGee; two brothers, Douglas Sowers, Marion Thomas Sowers; her step-mother, Alma Sowers. Surviving is her loving daughter, Charlie Hanner and husband Zeb of Thomasville; two brothers, Roy Sowers and wife Trudy, Joseph Sowers, both of Thomasville; one sister, Juanita Culbreth and husband Louis of Lakeland, FL.; three grandchildren, Dawn Chmielewski and husband Greg, Erin Russell Garrison and husband Ian, Ryan Hanner and wife Paulina; and one great-grandchild, Gillian Chmielewski; she also leaves behind many beloved nieces and nephews.
