Lexington- Yvonne Jacqueline Wootten, age 78, a resident of Lexington passed away on Friday, August 18, 2017 at the McLaren Hospital in Port Huron.
She was born on April 13, 1939 in Detroit, a daughter of the late Clyde W. and Mae E. (Bero) Messenger. Yvonne married Thirl D. Wootten on July 13, 1957 in Garden City. He preceded her in death on April 13, 2012.
Yvonne was a beautician and homemaker. Her great love was that of being a clown. She delighted many as her clown character, “Hopeful”, in the Carousel Clown troop. She loved to teach others the value of love through the art of clowning.
She is survived by her three children, Thirl F. Wootten of Lexington, Kimberly Abate of Ann Arbor and Jeremy Wootten of Chicago; two adopted sons, Karl Hanzinger and Trike Truszkowski; two grandchildren Thomas R. Abate and Jodie A. (Paul) Lis; one great grandson Michael Thirl Lis; a brother Clyde (Vickie) Messinger, III of Croswell. Several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by an infant brother Clyde W. J. Messinger, II and a sister and brother in law Merline and Melvin Birtwell.
Visitation will be from 4-9 P.M. on Tuesday at the Pomeroy Funeral Home in Lexington. Funeral services will be held at 11 A.M. on Wednesday at the funeral home, with visiting from 10-11 A.M. Pastor Barry Sheldon of St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Lexington will officiate. Interment will be in the Lexington Cemetery.

Memorials in memory of Yvonne may be made to the St. Judes Childrens Hospital or Ovarian Cancer.
