Jackie was born October 22, 1939 at his home in Big Moses, Tyler County, WV; son of the late Parley and Ada Headley Thomas.
He was a former employee of Nichols Lumber Company, Hadley’s Lumber Company, Eureka Pipeline, TransEnergy, and Perkins Oil; enjoyed attending demolition derbies with his son Ralph, by which he helped officiate in his early years; owned and operated TNT Fox Pen on Big Run, alongside his son, Derek where he enjoyed feeding and caring for foxes and reminiscing with hunters for hours at a time; was the caretaker of the Victory Cemetery on Indian Creek Road for several years; and was a member of Tyler River of Life Pentecostal Church of God. Jackie will be remembered as a great person and a great father to his kids and grandkids who thrived at helping others and for his love of horses.
In addition to his parents, Jackie was preceded in death by six sisters, Blondell Thomas, Doris Jean Thomas, Vonda Mason, Freda (Henry) Wright, Dorothy (Jimmy) Yeater and Dottie (Fred) Glover and two brothers, Bill (Juanita) Thomas and Bob (Anna) Thomas.
Surviving are his wife, Nila of 59 years; four sons, Larry (Sandy) Thomas, Ralph (Jane) Thomas, Steve (Becky) Thomas and Derek (Maria) Thomas; a daughter Jacqueline (Tom) Martin; thirteen grandchildren; fourteen great- grandchildren; two brothers, Jerry (Donna) Thomas and Donnie Thomas; a sister Shirley (Edward) Lancaster and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
There will be a private family viewing 3:30 - 4 pm. Then the family will receive friends 4-8 pm Saturday at Furbee Funeral Home, Alma where services will be held 1:00 pm Sunday with Reverend Bud Metz officiating. Interment in Victory Cemetery, Indian Creek.
Family and friends are welcome to join for a meal following the interment at Tyler River of Life Pentecostal Church of God at Tyler City.
