Richard was born July 28, 1932, in Kearney, Nebraska, to Roy R. Springer and Johanna Paitz. Richard enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps when he graduated from high school in Washington State during the Korean War. He served at Camp Pendleton as an Instructor to the Camp Pendleton Rifle Team until 1954. He moved to Los Angeles and worked for JPL, Northrup-Grumann and retired from TRW in 1992. He had a master's degree in Space Science Engineering from Occidental College. He moved to Nevada the same year and has lived in Sun City since 2001. He is a past president of the Quail Ridge HOA and was a good man to have around. He could fix anything! Dick is survived by his wife, Shirley; brother and sister-in-law, Harold "Hal" Joan Springer of Concord, California; son, Regan, his wife, Lisa, of Eagle Rock, California, and their two children, Cory and Jacquie. Dick had three stepsons by a previous marriage and has remained a loving stepfather, stepgrandfather and stepgreatgrandfather to all of them.
