CPL US MARINE CORPS
KOREA

Ronald L. Reid, 82, of Liberty, Mo., passed away at Lincoln Woods Village of Gladstone, one of his many projects he designed during his forty years as principal of Ron Reid Associates, on November 14, 2018. He was born February 17, 1936 in Hutchinson, Kans., to Ted Preston Reid and Helen Tyyne Nyman.

Ron joined the United States Marine Corps in 1954 following high school and served as a Sea Marine on the U.S.S. Lexington. He contributed the service for making his dream, since 6th grade, to become an Architect a reality.

After graduating with his degree of Bachelor of Architecture in January of 1962 from Kansas State University, he worked for the Tennessee Valley Authority for seven years as head designer. He received his Master’s of Architecture from Berkeley the University of California in 1968. He then returned to Manhattan, Kans., to teach fifth year design at Kansas State University for nine years. He opened his practice in 1979 and followed his dream until his passing. Nothing made him happier then the process of creating and then seeing it come to fruition.

Ron was an avid fly fisherman and woodturner. Numerous friends and family received his works of art. He will be missed by many!

He is survived by his wife, Marcia Rose Reid; his two sons, David and Eric, and their wives; two daughters, Gwynne and Kelley, and their husbands; five grandchildren and one great grandson; his brother and sister-in-law, Robert Reid and Ann of Chattanooga, Tenn.

The family would like to thank the wonderful, caring staff with Palliative Care and Hospice at Liberty Hospital and Linden Woods Village for their kindness and exceptional care.

Service will be private at Fort Leavenworth. Celebration of life will be held in May, his favorite time of year, at his home for friends and family.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Wounded Warrior Project.

Arrangements in care of Fry-Bross & Spidle Funeral Home, Kearney.
