Adelia was born in Big Spring, Texas, to the late Nora Pearl Gilmore Looney and James Martin Looney. She grew up in Hamilton and graduated from high school there. She moved to Ft. Worth and worked in an aircraft factory during World War II. When the Texas Department of Corrections opened in Gatesville she was one of its first Correctional Officers and retired from TDCJ after 10 years of service. Adelia was the last survivor of six siblings. She loved being independent and working in her yard. She loved her family and her pets.
She is survived by her son, David McDonald and wife, Susan, of Aledo, TX; daughters, Teresa Berry and husband, Dennis, of Poughkeepsie, N.Y., Yvonne McDonald, of Gatesville; grandchildren, Ian McDonald, Andrew McDonald and Maxine Berry; nieces, Linda Jones, Karon Mount and Sharon Hill; and numerous other relatives and friends.
