Cordelia (Corky) Boehm Newton passed away on October27, 2018. She was born on October 3, 1924 to Edward Boehm Jr. and Alma Albrecht Boehm.
Corky grew up in Moulton and attended Moulton Public Schools. She graduated from Moulton High School in 1939. She graduated from Texas Woman’s University 1943 with a degree in Foods and Nutrition.

In 1946, she met Paul H. Newton who became her husband on August 9, 1947. Corky and Paul were married in Zion Lutheran Church in Moulton.

Corky worked as a school dietician for Houston ISD and Fort Bend ISD. She retired from Fort Bend ISD. She and Paul moved to Katy, Texas when Paul retired and moved to Moulton in 1984.

Corky loved her family and friends. She volunteered to drive a number of her friends for cancer treatment. She was an excellent cook. Corky comes from generations of family members who were members of WELCA (Women of the Evangelic Lutheran Church in America)

Corky was preceded in death by her parents, husband Paul H. Newton, brothers Gene and Lawrence Boehm and sister Ethel Williamson. She is survived by her son Nelson Wayne Newton (Kathy), daughter Paula Jan Odle (Jim), granddaughter Jill Holley (Aaron) grandsons Cody Newton (Jackie) and Kyle Newton (Jordan) and great grandchildren Adeline Holley and Chance Newton. She is also survived by nieces Claudia McNiff, Barbara Clark, Kay Brod, Rhonda Dees, Bridget Besser and nephew Rodney Boehm.

A Memorial Service will be held on January 12, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Moulton, Texas. Pastor Herbert Beyer will officiate. The family will have a private internment at a later date.
