Lynn Ann Allen, 16 of Route 1, Benton, died at 8:40 p.m. Monday July 19, 1993
A funeral service is planned for 2 pm Friday July 23 at Immanuel Baptist Church, with the Rev. Roger Ellsworth officiating. Burial will be in the Masonic and Odd Fellows Cemetery in Benton.
Visitation is from 6 to 9 Thursday at Immanuel Baptist Church, where Lynn was a member. Memorial donations may be made to the Lynn Allen Scholarship Fund at United Illinois Bank in Benton.
A senior at Benton Consolidated High School, Lynn was the daughter of David and Janellyn (Brown) Allen. They both survive, as does her brother Brad Allen.
Also surviving are grandparents Bill and Margie Brown of West Frankfort and Mildred Allen of Granite City; Great Grandmother Lillian Lowman of West Frankfort; several aunts, uncles, and cousins; uncle Gary Brown of West Frankfort; and Best Friend Katy Swift of Benton.
A well liked student at BCHS, Lynn was involved in several activities, including design communications and athletic training.
"She was so dear and so close to all of us." BCHS athletic director Rod Shurtz said. "Lynn was as good as gold. Speaking for the athletic department and the high school, I know we're all very sad. We've lost someone who was very, very close to us.
