Julie was born and raised in Columbus, Ohio. She graduated from Worthington High School and attended Ohio State University, where she pursued her doctorate in Art History. She is preceded in death by her parents, Philip George Ogle and Mary Ellen Barrum Ogle, and her beloved husband, Jerry Ralph McDonald.
She is survived by her daughter, Ellen Elizabeth (John Wilson) McDonald, three beautiful beloved granddaughters, Emily Grace McDonald Bondi, Claire Emma McDonald Bondi, and Flora Josephine ZiFan Bondi, and her friend and confidant, Duane Wilson. A huge thank you to her special caregiver, Amanda Lewis. A Norfolk resident for nearly 42 years, Julie amassed an enormous, diverse group of friends who will miss her deeply as well. Julie was a pillar in the community. She was a proud Navy wife, an art historian, a lover of opera and art, and a proud supporter of the LGBT community. She adored her husband, Jerry, and after his passing in 2001 was never quite the same. However, her three granddaughters became her strongest source of joy and pride.
