Stephen Shepherd, 92, of Airville, died at 4 p.m. Friday at Heatherbank Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Columbia after a lengthy illness. He was the husband of the late Helen E. (Tompkins) Shepherd.

Following cremation by the Burg Funeral Home Inc., 134 W. Broadway, Red Lion, a graveside service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday in Guinston United Presbyterian Cemetery.

Mr. Shepherd was born Nov. 15, 1902, in New York City. He was the son of the late Julius Shepherd and the late Charlotte (Laventure) Shepherd Balla.

He retired from the former Borg-Warner Corp. after 27 years as a group leader foundry worker. He attended Guinston United Presbyterian Church. He was a life member of Disabled American Veterans York White Rose Chapter 28 and a U.S. Army veteran.

Mr. Shepherd is survived by three sons, Stephen L. Shepherd and Ronald L. Shepherd, both of Airville, and Gerald E. Shepherd of Yoe; a daughter, Janet J. Miller of Felton; 11 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Officiating at the service will be the Rev. John R. Maisch. Memorial contributions may be made to Visiting Nurse Association, 2 N. Charles St., Red Lion 17356.
