Roderick Neal "Roddy" Smith, 64, of Staunton, passed away on Monday, November 19, 2018, at Augusta Health. He was born on August 10, 1954, a son of the late Joseph Neal and Gladys Lourene (Shotwell) Smith.
Roderick worked as a Principal Designer with Daikin in Verona. Fishing and boating were a few of his favorite hobbies.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Tony Sanford Smith, and Sharon (Smith) Wright.
Left to cherish his memory are his siblings, F. Scott Smith of Waynesboro, Deborah Smith of Clearwater, FL, and Lisa Balser and her husband, Jimmy of Greenville; a number of nieces and nephews, Michael Smith, James, Caleb, and Sarah Balser, Heather J. Smith; great-nieces and nephews, Courtney Smith, Brayden Smith, Drew Boehm, and Emma Gomez; Robert, Kirk, and Crystal Fuller, who were like his children; as well numerous extended family and friends. All the children in his life were greatly loved by him.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 24, 2018, at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes with Pastor David Smith officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, November 23, 2018 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be to the American Cancer Society, P.O.
