Eunice Ydstie
July 18, 1928 - November 19, 2018

Eunice Margaret Hage was born on July 18, 1928, the daughter of Carl and Petra (Grande) Hage in Halstad, MN. She grew up in this area and attended country school at Herberg Township, and graduated from Halstad High School. She continued her education in Minneapolis and later worked as a teletyper.

Eunice was united in marriage to Harlum Ydstie on June 6, 1948 at the Halstad Lutheran Church. Together they made their home near Hillsboro where they farmed and raised their family. Throughout the years, Eunice worked on the farm, right by her husband’s side, driving tractors and sugar beet trucks – working wherever she was needed. Harlum passed away on July 31, 1991.

Eunice was a longtime member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Hillsboro where she was involved in many of the Women’s groups. She also enjoyed her time spent in the bowling league and being a part of the Eldorado Willing Workers Homemaker’s Club. Most of all, Eunice was a mother before anything else. She loved her children and cherished the time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was very proud of each and every one of them and always took at great interest in what was happening in their lives. Eunice was a people person – she could talk to anyone and loved to be around people helping them in any way she could. For the past few years, she had made her home at the Hillsboro Medical Center.

Eunice was preceded in death by her husband, Harlum; her parents, Carl and Petra; her son-in-law, Mark O. Johnson; and her four brothers – Clark, Leland, Harold, and Philip Hage.
