May 4, 1929 - November 21, 2018

On November 21, 2018, Alma Margaret Yon Hill Murphy passed away while she was being cared for at Bluefield Regional Medical Center. She was 89 years old.

Born May 4, 1929 in Bramwell, WV, to an Italian emigrant family who came into the United States at Ellis Island, NY, Alma lived her entire life in Bramwell.

She was a lifetime member of the Bramwell Presbyterian Church where she also sang in the choir. She was a wonderful mother and dedicated secretary at Bramwell Schools where she was employed from 1954 until she retired. While at BHS, she touched the lives of many students in so many ways and to her, these were “her kids”. She loved to reminisce and tell stories of her kids and times at BHS. She loved her hometown and was a “Mighty Millionaire” at heart. She will truly be missed by many.

Left to cherish many memories is her only child, Greg (wife Debra) and granddaughter Katie.

She is also survived by her niece Cristina Hill and nephews Steve Hill (Barbara), Jerry Yon (Pamela), Don Yon, and Charles Yon (Libby).

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles H. Murphy; her mother and father, Cristina and Levio Yon; a sister and brother, Eva Yon Hill (Clifton) and Italo Harry Yon (Wanda).

Visitation will be at Cravens-Shires Funeral Home on Saturday, December 1, 2018, 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and the funeral service will be Sunday,
December 2, 2018, 1:00 PM, at Cravens-Shires with Minister Frank Watkins officiating and graveside services following at Woodlawn Memorial Park, Bluewell, WV.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Bramwell Presbyterian Church or the local humane shelter would be appreciated.
