Evelyn Blanche (Higgins) (Elrod) (Russell) Davidson was born on September 16, 1921 in Northville, Michigan, the daughter of Thomas "Tom" Higgins (1889–1947) and Cora I (Vanderhoef) Higgins (1895–1930).

At the age of 8 she began caring for her 1-year old sister Ruth, after their mother became sick and died. Later she roofed more than one house, performed many carpenter jobs, repaired a few plumbing situations, prepared many garden areas using a shovel and hoe to enjoy and share delicious food, sewed clothes for her family and enjoyed painting a few hundred pictures of landscapes and flowers.

Evelyn was proud of her World War II Home Front contribution as a civilian aircraft mechanic for the US Army Air Corps in Yuma, Arizona. She encouraged her children to care for others, all animals and nature; to follow their own path, to watch where they stepped and to brush off the bad stuff and share good moments with others and have a little fun along the way.

She was married 1st to Paul Elrod, married 2nd to James L Russell, and married 3rd to L B Davidson Jr.

Evelyn was a kind, caring and strong woman. She never saw obstacles, but instead saw a chance to learn something new. She had the spirit of a Pioneer: discovering what else is just beyond the horizon, making ways to get to new and better places, not waiting for others to make changes but just doing it herself. She enjoyed playing her harmonica and her favorite songs were Oh, Shenandoah and Yellow Rose of Texas. The word Shenandoah was her favorite way to describe all the gorgeous sights everyone should enjoy. She loved yellow roses, their scent, beauty and the feelings a yellow rose represents.

She was living in Antioch, Tennessee and was 97 years old when she passed away on November 19, 2018.

Preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, brothers Jim Higgins and Tommy Higgins of Michigan, sister Ruth (Higgins) Spain of Alabama, son David L Russell of Nashville and her son-in-law Ralph Mack of Nashville. Survivors included a daughter in Nashville TN, a married sister in Nichigan, grandson in Florida and other family members and friends.

Graveside Services were held in Woodlawn Cemetery.
