Dorothy was born on April 19th 1923 in Naylor, Missouri to Dallas Scott Bogard and Bertha Veda Lawson Bogard.
At the age of eleven, Dorothy moved with her family from Blodgett, Missouri to Campbell, Missouri. There she later met and married Esco Robert Benson. To their union, five children were born.
Dorothy became a member of the Church of Christ in 1939.
In 1948 Dorothy and her family moved to East Peoria, Illinois. She worked at W. T. Grant and Bergners Department Stores until 1971, when she was forced to retire due to ill health.
In 1999 Esco was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease. In the spring of 2001, Dorothy and Esco went to live with Kevin and Janice in Topeka, Kansas so that they could assist Dorothy with his care. Esco passed away on October 24th, 2001.
Dorothy continued to live with Kevin and Janice after his death, later moving to Cape Fair, Missouri.

Her son, Ronald Lee (Nancy) Benson
Her grand-daughter, Marti Joanne Benson (Kevin and Janice)

Her sister, Mae (James) Buckley

Gary Robert (Judy) Benson – Forsythe, Missouri
Richard Norris (Katrina) Benson – Bartow, Florida
Kevin Scott (Janice) Benson – Cape Fair, Missouri

Veda Joan (Michael) Saunders – Mountain Home, Arkansas
