A GOOD CITIZEN GONE
Mr. James E. Berry departed this life at his residence in Sparta on Sunday morning, inst. Though his death was not unexpected, he having fallen a victim of consumption, which slowly drained life’s fountain, yet his death is keenly felt in this community. He was a modest, unassuming Christian gentleman, and his friends were many. On Monday afternoon the Methodist Church was filled to overflowing with sorrowing friends who followed his remains to their resting place, while a large crowd of colored people were present to honor the memory of a good man gone.
To the bereaved relatives we tender sympathy.
