Obituary, Chadwick Funeral Service (New London, NH), 19 Nov 2018:

Sutton Mills, NH-Gordon Manning, 86, of Nelson Hill Road, died Friday, November 16, 2018 at his home.

He was born in Manchester, NH on December 19, 1931 the son of Merrill F. and Ruth (Cheney) Manning.

Gordon grew up in Bedford on a farm, married and moved to Manchester and East Candia for 15 years before moving to Sutton in 1978 where the family has owned property since 1907.

He had been a heavy equipment mechanic for R.C. Hazelton for all of his working life.

He served in the US Air Force as a hydraulic specialist. Having a passion for logging, many knew him as The Sawyer of Sutton Mills, where he owned and operated a sawmill since moving to Sutton. He enjoyed family and being able to spend time with them.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Elaine (Greeley) Manning of Sutton Mills, NH; three sons, Bruce Manning of Roanoke, VA, Carl Manning of Manchester, NH and Bernie Manning of Fremont, MI; four grandchildren and one great granddaughter. He is predeceased by two brothers, Paul and Warren.

Friends may call at the Chadwick Funeral Home, 235 Main Street, New London, NH on Friday, November 23, 2018 from 6:00-8:00 P.M. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 24, 2018 at 2:00 P.M. at Trinity Bible Church, 539 Route 114, South Sutton, NH. Burial will be in Millwoods Cemetery in the spring.
