David H. Speer, 73, of Blairs Mills, PA, passed unexpectedly at his home on Thursday, November 15, 2018. Born June 3, 1945 in Lewistown, PA, he was a son of the late James Speer, Sr., and Lenore Long Speer.

David was a 1963 graduate of Southern Huntingdon High School. He was a man of many talents and was highly respected by his friends and family. David was a lifetime family farmer. He served as secretary and treasurer of Tell Township Road District and was also a rural mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, reading and studying Civil War history and hunting.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Patricia Jenkins Speer, his son, Phillip Speer and wife Brenda of Lititz, PA; three grandchildren, Donny Reisch and Robert and Amanda Speer; and his brother, James Speer, Jr. and wife Henrietta of East Waterford, PA.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, November 21, 2018, in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA. Pastor David Hamilton will officiate. At the family's request, interment will be private. Friends will be received one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Penn State Health Rheumatology, 500 University Avenue, Hershey, PA 17036, or to The Penn State Children's Hospital, 600 University Drive, Hershey, PA 17033 to be used for the new building addition.
