John W. Achenbach, 94 years old, passed away Sunday, November 18, 2018 on his family farm that gave him much pleasure and numerous memories in Millerstown. He was born April 16, 1924 to John H. and Linda Carnes Achenbach. He served God as a member of the Millerstown United Methodist Church and of its choir. Additionally, he belonged to the Marysville Perry Lodge #458, Harrisburg Consistory and the former Tuscarora Grange. He was a past member of the Greenwood School Board and served for several years as an auditor for Tuscarora Township.
John was preceded in death by his wife, Constance Black Achenbach and is survived by his sons, John W. Achenbach II and G. Mark Achenbach and wife Joan of Millerstown; brother, George Achenbach of Duncannon, sister, Mary Louise Dowdrick of Duncannon; grandchildren, Amy Wanner, Andrew Achenbach, Caitlin Achenbach, Jennifer Robertson, Mark J. Achenbach and eleven great grandchildren. He was loved and respected by many and will be dearly remembered. Services will be held Saturday from the Millerstown United Methodist Church at 10 AM with a viewing from 9 AM until the service. Burial will follow in the Riverview Cemetery. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, memorial contributions are requested to the Millerstown UMC., 702 East Sunbury Street, Millerstown, PA. 17062.
