Edwin Lee "Papaw" Neal, 95, of Ironton, Ohio, passed away Saturday, November 17, 2018, at his residence. Mr. Neal was born August 31, 1923 in Rock Camp, Ohio, a son to the late William and Mayme (Webb) Neal. He is survived by his loving wife, Edna Mae Sites Neal, whom he married November 2, 1943.



Mr. Neal attended Ironton Schools and was a retired maintenance worker for Alpha Portland Cement Plant, DMI Comp. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran. He loved to hunt, and enjoyed wood working and was always helping others in any way possible. He was a member of Woodland Chapel Church.



In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by:

two sons: Leonard Neal and Frank (Judy) Neal

seven siblings: Ernest Neal, Floyd Neal, George Neal, Ester Neal, Irene Irby, Laurie Addington and Gertrude Deborde



In addition to his wife, he is survived by:

daughter: Katherine McClaskey of Ironton, OH

daughter-in-law: Janet Neal of Ironton, OH

seven grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren and nine great great-grandchildren



Funeral service will be 1:00 P.M., Saturday, November 24, 2018 at Phillips Funeral Home, 1004 South Seventh Street, Ironton, Ohio with Brother Dave Schug officiating. Burial will follow in Leatherwood cemetery with Military Rites provided by VFW Post 8850 and visitation will be Saturday, 11:00 A.M. until time of the service at the funeral home.
