James A. McCoy, 101, of Rogers, Arkansas, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on November 16, 2018 in Rogers.

Services will be 10:00 AM Saturday, December 1, 2018 at First Assembly of God Church in Pampa, Texas, with the Rev. Phil Hastie, officiating.

Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Pampa under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.

James was born on a ranch in Schleicher County near El Dorado, Texas on October 26, 1917, the son of Arthur and Minerva McCoy. He and his wife June, lived in Pampa, Texas for 54 years prior to moving to Rogers, Arkansas in 2006. They were married for 72 years prior to her home-going. James was an employee of Empire Southern/Pioneer/Atmos Natural Gas Companies for most of his life and served for many years as District Manager until his retirement. He also was a member of several local civic organizations.

James was a faithful member of First Assembly of God in Pampa, Texas where he and his wife were actively involved in the ministries of the church. After moving to Northwest Arkansas, they were both, until their deaths, a vital part of the starting of Celebrate Church in Rogers, Arkansas.

He is survived by his daughter, Linda Hastie and her husband Phil of Rogers, Arkansas; four grandsons and their families: Brent and Sarah Ford, Nicholas, Melissa, and Lucas Ford of Lake Elizabeth, California; Lane and Jennifer Hastie, Parker, Taylor, and Bailey Hastie of Springdale, Arkansas; Todd and Dena Ford, Boden and Jonah Ford of Huntington Beach, California, Craig and Christie Hastie, Lily and Maya Hastie of Aliso Viejo, California. He is also survived by one sister, Grace Cockrell, of Brenham, Texas. James’ life was also blessed with a great host of extended family and many friends.

James is preceded in death by his wife, June; his daughter, Shirley Ford and her husband Truitt Ford; his parents; four brothers and two sisters.

The family would like to express special thanks to Circle of Life Hospice in Springdale, Arkansas for their special care during the final weeks of James’ life here upon this earth.

Any memorial gifts may be sent to either Circle of Life Hospice, 901 Jones Road, Springdale, Arkansas 72762; or to Celebrate Church of Northwest Arkansas, P. O. Box 631, Rogers, AR 72757 and designated in honor of James A. McCoy.
