Born Jan. 19, 1925, in Sheffield, Ala., she was the daughter of Lee and Celia (Manasco) Malone. Darse married LaVerne Robert Fant on May 9, 1946 in Sheffield.
Darse was a homemaker. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Kishwaukee Community Hospital Ausiliary, KCH 100 and the Eastern Star.
Survivors include two daughters, Laurel Fant of Janesville, Wis., and JoAnne (David) Rompf of Somonauk; two sons, Robert (Sharon) Fant of De Kalb and James Scott (Joey) Fant of Sycamore; five grandchildren, Lisa, Brian, and Colleen Fant, and Lowell and Dylan Rompf; a sister Barbara Heller of Land O'Lakes, Fla.; a brother Lee (Aline) Malone Jr. of Athens, Ala.; and several nieces and nephews.
Darse was preceded in death by her husband, LaVerne, and her parents.
Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 6, at the Anderson Funeral Home in De Kalb, with the Rev. Donald algeman of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in rural Hinckley officiating. Burial will follow services at Fairview Park Cemetery in De Kalb. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, July 5, at the funeral home.
