TAYLORSVILLE Mosie Laws Jr., 73, of Taylorsville, died Thursday, Nov. 15, 2018, at his residence. Born Nov. 29, 1944 in Mitchell County, he was the son of the late Mosie Laws Sr. and Layuna Davis Laws. A member of Maiden First Freewill Baptist Church, he was formerly employed in the furniture industry. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Barbara Laws. Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Doris Frye Laws; son, Allen Laws; grandson, A.J. Laws; and brothers, Lawrence Jones and Milton Laws. A celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 20, at Maiden First Freewill Baptist Church in Maiden with Pastors Paul Grindstaff and Kenny Allen officiating. Burial will follow in Catawba Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 to 1:45 p.m., at the church, prior to the service. Memorials may be made to the Maiden First Freewill Baptist Church, 313 S. Main Ave, Maiden, NC 28650.
