Waitman Kapaldo was the son of John Sr. and Alice Smith Kapaldo. He served on the U.S.S. Laffey during the battle at Okinawa Island during Word War II. After the war he worked as an Electrical Engineer for 30 years before retiring. He was a talented wildlife artist and started a painting career after his retirement. Survivors include his wife, five children, 14 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and four siblings.
