Fairview, Idaho - Owen Watson Sharp passed away peacefully in his sleep on May 7, 2014. He had recently celebrated his 90th birthday. Owen was born in Smithfield, Utah on April 17, 1924, to Alvin Joseph Sharp and Lorna Eliza Watson Sharp. Owen has been a life-long resident of Fairview, Idaho. There he attended grade school, and graduated from Preston High school in 1943. There he met Donna Kendall.

In 1944 he was called to serve his country during the second world war. Before leaving he gave Donna a ring and ask her to wait for him. Owen served in Europe where he was wounded in action and received the Purple Heart. Upon his return he married Donna Millard Kendall, daughter of William Edwin Kendall and Ethel Julian Millard Kendall, in the Salt Lake temple on October 16, 1946. Owen served as an LDS missionary in the Central Atlantic States Mission. Together Owen and Donna have dedicated their lives to serving others.

In 1988, Owen was the first recipient of the annual Lamp Lighter Service award. Owen worked at the Preston Post Office for 30 years. They served as ordnance workers in the Logan LDS temple for 12 years. Their joy is their family. They have made annual trips to Alaska since 1972 to visit their son Dennis Kendall, his wife Barbara, their six children and 18 great grandchildren.

He is survived by Donna, his wife of 67 years. Their son Dennis and Barbara Kendall, and their six children Wendy See, Tyra Lyn (Dan) Armstrong, Jeff Kendall, Ryan (Chelsea) Kendall, Lisa (Jason) Smedley, Christy, (Derrick) Wilson and 18 great grandchildren. All residing in Eagle River, Alaska Owen is also survived by his brother Clyde and Clarice Sharp of Clinton, Utah. The immediate family would like to thank Owen's brother Clyde and Clarice Sharp and family and Marty and Dixie Stott a niece for their love and care.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m. on Friday May 16, in the Fairview Chapel 165 W. 4800 South in Preston, Idaho with Bishop John Griffiths conducting. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 15, at Webb Funeral Home, 1005 S. 800 East in Preston, Idaho and before the services from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the Fairview Chapel.
