Alice Shatter Eaton
EMMETT — Alice E. Coshall Shaffer Eaton, 96, of 511 Riverside, Emmett, died Friday, Oct. 28, 1988, in a Boise nursing home of natural causes.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 31, at Summers Funeral Home of Boise. The Rev. Ray Wright of Whitney United Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will be in Dry Creek Cemetery, Boise.
Mrs. Eaton was born Oct. 2, 1892, at Prittlewell, England. Her mother died when Alice was two years old. She was raised by her aunt until she was 15 years old. When she came to the United States, she lived with her aunt and uncle in Sacramento, Calif., then went to Centralia, Wash. There she met Charles C. Shaffer whom she married Sept. 8, 1914. They moved to Alaska for two years, then came to Boise. They homesteaded a ranch at Mayfield, Idaho, where they raised their six children. Mr. Shaffer died June 22, 1966. She married Walter "Bill" Eaton on Sept. 19, 1969. Mr. Eaton died in February of 1984.
She was a longtime member of both the Eagle Lodge Ladies Auxiliary, and the Ladies of Neighbors of Woodcraft.
Survivors include a son and his wife, William "Bill" and Maxine Shaffer of Washougal, Wash.; four daughters and their husbands, Jessie and Jim 'linden of Mountain Home, Oleen and Ed McGann of Emmett, Pearl and Harry Rose of Richland, Wash., and Charollet "Cho" and Bob Post of Boise; a daughter, June Campbell of Boise; 25 grandchildren; 57 great-grandchildren; and 30 great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her two husbands, her parents also died earlier.
Memorials may be made to the Ola School Outdoor Studies Memorial Fund, c/o Ola School, Ola, Idaho 83657. Friends may call today from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Summers Funeral Home in Boise.
