Jane R. Campbell

Jane R. Campbell died Nov. 15, 2018, at Saint Katharine Drexel Assisted Living in El Reno. Jane came to Saint Katharineโ€™s after living in Horseshoe Bay, Texas, for 29 years. She moved shortly after the facility was completed and loved living there.

Jane was born Jan. 14, 1919, in McAlester, Okla., to Joshua and Alta (Horton) Rice. Her father was with the railroad for many years and her mother was a homemaker.

Upon graduation from high school, Jane moved to Dallas and worked as an executive secretary to a banker. When he was transferred to New York City, Jane went as well and worked there for several years before being transferred back to Dallas where she met and fell in love with Thomas M. Campbell Jr. They were married on Dec. 23, 1950, and enjoyed 52 years together until Tom passed away in 2002.

Shortly after their marriage, Tom was ordained as a minister in the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). He joined the Air Force and went on to serve as a chaplain until his retirement in 1978. Jane loved the military life and enjoyed the extensive travel and new experiences.

Jane was an accomplished artist and singer. She was a golfer and a huge Dallas Cowboys fan. Although she loved music, her true love was the game of golf which she and Tom played avidly together. Although she was not active on the golf course the last several years of her life, she loved to watch golf on television.

And while she was able, there was never a Sunday during football season that she was not glued to the television to watch โ€œherโ€ Cowboys!

Jane was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one brother and one sister; and a daughter-in-law.

Jane is survived by her three children, Nancy Wise and husband, Butch of El Reno, Suzanne Campbell of Albuquerque, N.M., and Tom Campbell of Jackson, Wyo. Also surviving her is her brother-in-law, Donald Campbell and wife, Karen of Dodgeville, WI.

Jane was so proud of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who all survive her. They are Clay Wise; Ashlie Blair and husband, Shawn, son, Derek and daughter, Lacie; Parker Wise; Mallory Wise; Annalyssa Campbell and Cameron Campbell.

The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks and appreciation for the wonderful love and tender care she experienced while a resident at Saint Katharineโ€™s where she developed many loving ties to the staff and residents. We would also like to thank Russell-Murray Hospice and Caring @ Home LLC for their love and devotion to Jane during her final days.

Cremation arrangements will be under the direction of Huber-Benson Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held at a later date when Jane is laid to rest with her husband at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio, Texas.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Saint Katharine Drexel Assisted Living, Russell-Murray Hospice or the charity of your choice.
