Sheryl D. (Hallier) Walker, 73, Parkville, Missouri passed away November 15, 2018. A visitation will be held from 5-7 PM, immediately followed by a funeral service at 7:00 PM, Monday, November 19, 2018, at Chapel Hill-Butler Funeral Home, 701 N. 94th St., Kansas City, Kansas. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, November 20, 2018, at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to American Cancer Society.
Sheryl (known as Sherry to family and friends), was born in Providence, Rhode Island to Meredith Clark-Krzesinski and the late Lloyd Hallier on December 9, 1944. She moved with her family to Kansas City, Kansas in February 1955, where she was raised.
As a child, Sherry was a talented ballerina. During high school, she excelled at competitive roller skating and worked as a Candy Striper at Providence Hospital. Following graduation from Wyandotte High School in 1963, she worked in various retail positions, until she wholeheartedly accepted the role which she cherished most as a devoted wife and mother.
On January 25, 1969, she married the love of her life for 49 years, Jerry C. Walker. In 1982, they settled in Parkville, MO and together they raised two beautiful daughters, Deeanna and Charlotte. Throughout their marriage, they enjoyed nights on the town square dancing, eating out and playing games with family and friends, and celebrating God's Word and Grace.
Sherry faithfully demonstrated the importance of family into all she did and all those she touched and loved, especially her daughters. She was so proud to be their "taxi" for appointments, school activities/events, organ/cheerleading practices, competitions and recitals. She never complained once or missed a single one!
She believed in the importance of devoting her time to advocating for education and children with disabilities. Sherry spent every year volunteering for her daughter's teachers and as a lunchroom supervisor as they grew. She was elected as the President of the both the Association for Children with Learning Disabilities and Parent Teacher Association which she felt great honor in being able to serve and make lives better for children and families.
She was proud to be called "Nana" to her grandchildren Kayla and Quentin and step-grandchildren Marissa, Dalton, Ava, Jackson and Dalton. Her love only grew richer on the day that welcomed her great-grandson, Kaspian, into her life.
Sherry was a devoted Christian and whole-heartedly gave her life to Christ. She was a longtime member of North Heartland Community Church. She looked forward to her fellowship with those she considers her brothers and sisters in Christ, at Thursday evening Bible Study.
Throughout her life and in her spare time, she enjoyed crocheting blankets to keep her family and friends warm, listening and singing to an eclectic collection of music from Elvis to the Gospel on her IPod while she sang completely off key, playing games on her computer and avidly reading books on her Nook. Sherry was a talented artist and enjoyed drawing and creating ceramic keepsakes. She cherished her collections of teapots, birdhouses and dolls. She loved to cook, especially her signature dishes of tacos, meatloaf, goulash and ONLY HER favorite tuna and noodles. She especially loved her many opportunities she experienced in playing board, card and dice games with her family and friends on the weekends. All would admit that Sherry possibly had a slight competitive streak in her!
Sherry will always be remembered as a selfless, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother who had a smile and infectious laugh and unwavering faith in God, gave her heart and time to everyone in her life, and knew exactly what to say and shared her strength when times were tough. She loved and lived EVERY moment she was given on this Earth, always grateful, until God called her home.
Sherry is survived by the love of her life for 49 years, Jerry C. Walker; daughters Deeanna and husband Joe, Charlotte and partner Paul; mother, Meredith Krzesinski; grandchildren, Kayla, Quentin; step-grandchildren Marissa, Dalton, Ava, Jackson, and Dalton; great-grandson, Kaspian; half-brother, Lloyd; half-sisters, Deena and LaDean; and many beloved cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
In Heaven, Sherry has rejoined her immediate family including her father, Lloyd; sister, Carol; stepfather, Sylvester; stepmother, Clara; mother-in-law, Louise; father-in-law, George; stepsister, Patsy; and grandparents, uncles, aunts, nieces and friends. Also greeting her with wagging tails at the gates are Mitzey and Charlee.

"Mom, you have given so much and asked for so little in return.
Thank you for always being there for us, loving us, for teaching us,
listening to us, helping and forgiving us, and ALWAYS paving the way for us.
We will work hard to reach the standard you set each and every day.
Farewell for now sweet Mama, until we see you again.
You are and always will be simply magnificent!"

Love Charlotte and Deeanna
