John E. Jake Meade, 83, a lifelong resident of Easton, died Tuesday, November 1, 2016 at the Guardian Center in Brockton after a period of failing health. He was the husband of Dorothy R. (LaFratta) Meade. Born in Brockton, a son of the late Richard W. and Catherine P. (McDonald) Meade, he was raised in Easton and was a graduate of Oliver Ames High School. He continued his education at night at Massasoit Community College earning an associates degree in fire science. Jake began his working career as a machinist while also working as a call fire fighter for Town of Easton. He was later appointed full time to the Easton Fire Department and retired in 1992 with the rank of Captain. After his retirement from the Town of Easton, he worked at Pine Oaks Golf Course, was a currier driver for pharmaceutical deliveries and was a limousine driver. He was a member of both the Conte Club in Brockton and the Upland Club in Plympton. An avid golfer he enjoyed woodworking. In addition to his wife Dorothy, he is survived by a brother, Robert Meade of Middleboro and several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. He was also the brother of the late Richard W. Meade Jr., Frederick Meade, Mary P. Macrina, Catherine A. Dupont and Donald Meade. Relatives and friends invited to attend the funeral from Kane Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 605 Washington Street (Rte.138), Easton, on Thursday, Nov. 10, at 10 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass in the Holy Cross Church, Easton, at 11 a.m. Interment in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Easton.
