Larry Cross, 80, of Robinson, IL, died Thursday, November 15, 2018 at the IU Health University Hospital in Indianapolis, IN.

He was born March 22, 1938 in Crawford County, the son of Victor Cross & Pearl Mae (Fouty) Cross, both of whom preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Robert A. “Bob” Cross and Ronald L. Cross; and by his sister, Mary Gangloff.

He married Evelyn (Baker) on January 6, 1962, and she survives. He is also survived by his in-laws, Martha & Ed Michl (Robinson, IL), Marty Cross (Cleveland, OH), and Ron West (Vincennes, IN); as well as several nieces and nephews.

Larry grew up in the Robinson area and was a 1956 graduate of Robinson High School. At this point in his life, he worked at the Lincoln Theater before getting on with Smith Sales & Service in Lawrenceville. He would go on to work for several years before retiring from General Telephone, where he first worked as a lineman, then as a switchman.

Away from work, he enjoyed attending auctions, and gathered a number of collections through the years. Years ago, he was quite the bowler, and being left-handed, was even a member of Whitmer’s Lefties Team. Larry’s family will warmly remember this quiet, (yet comical), one-of-a-kind character. Ever the gentleman, his demeanor and positive attitude will never be forgotten.

A time of visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 20th at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 21st at the funeral home with Rev. Jerry McDaniel officiating. Burial will be in the Robinson New Cemetery. Memorials may be made to either the American Heart Association or to the Highland Avenue Baptist Church.
