She was retired, after many years of service, as a dedicated Absecon City employee. She was a former member of the Atlantic County Municipal Clerks Association and the Absecon VFW Volunteer Ambulance Squad. She was a former member of the Absecon Blue Devils Booster Club, where she was affectionately known as "Mom".
She was predeceased by her parents, Martin and Margaret (McGovern) Friel and stepmother, Gladys Friel.
She was survived by her children: Anthony (Tiger) Minetti and Cathyann (Gillespie) Schoenstein and husband Jim; granddaughters, Nicole Lynn and Jessica Ann Schoenstein; her sister Marge Phillips and husband Frank; her brothers Marty Friel and wife Nancy, Joe Friel and wife Bonnie, Fran Friel, Mike Friel and wife Claire and stepbrother Walter (Ace) Spangler.
She was also survived by many nieces and nephews, radio talk-show family and her faithful dog "Cheech".
