Jerald R. “Jerry” Wilson, 85, of Scottsbluff, passed away on Wednesday, November 14, 2018 at Scottsbluff Care and Rehabilitation Center.

His funeral service will be held at 2 PM on Friday, November 16, 2018 at WestWay Christian Church with Pastor Joe Petersen officiating. Burial will follow at West Lawn Cemetery in Gering. Visitation will be held from 2-7 PM on Thursday at Gering Memorial Chapel with the family present from 4-7 and one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.

Jerry was born April 20, 1933 at Gering, Nebraska to Benjamin Nelson and Martha Alyce (Kelly) Wilson.

He attended the Nebraska School for the Deaf in Omaha until 1954 when he returned to the Scottsbluff/Gering area to farm with his father.

Jerry was united in marriage to Marie Elizabeth Pace on August 5, 1956 at the Assembly of God Church in Scottsbluff. The couple made their home in the Gering/Scottsbluff/Mitchell area where they raised their family. Jerry farmed as well as worked for the Sugar Factory for several campaigns, retiring in 1981.

He was a member of WestWay Christian Church.

Jerry liked to watch football, complete word search puzzles, and enjoyed the deaf community near and far.

Jerry is survived by daughters Dorothy (Jim) Sutphen of Papillion, NE and Ramona (Todd) Robertus of Bellevue, NE; grandchildren Stephen Lacy (Fiancee Crystal Alvarado) of Scottsbluff, Heather (Dan) Campbell of Montgomery, AL, Jamie (Tom) Horrocks of Twenty-Nine Palms, CA, Ashley Kessler (Travis Burkey) of Melbeta, and Jennifer (Andrew) Horak of Bellevue, NE; ten great-grandchildren; sister Jan Powell of Lincoln; brothers Al (Judy) Wilson of Mitchell and Roger (Margaret) Wilson of Lincoln; nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, wife Marie, son Benjamin Earl Wilson, granddaughter Tina Jo Robertus, and brother-in-law Richard Powell.
