Juana (Jenny) Garcia, age 86, passed away at her home on Monday November 12th, 2018. She was born in Lawrence, Kansas on December 27, 1931 to Patricio and Rosa (Romero) Garcia. She was preceded in death by her sisters Lupe Garcia and Mercedes Jaimez and brothers Andy Garcia Sr. and John Garcia. Survivors include her sister and caretaker, Candace Crane, and niece Tunisia Crane of the home. Other survivors include her two brothers and four sisters, Bob Garcia, Santos (Sonny) Garcia, Antonia (Tony) Ramirez, Luz (Lucy) Garcia and Irene Langford of Lawrence and Sabina Vasquez of Carlsbad, California. A loving sister and aunt, she had 31 nieces and nephews and many great nieces and nephews whom she dedicated much of her time to in their formative years. She grew up in La Yarda, the historic Mexican-American settlement in Lawrence. She worked for many years at Scotch Fabric Care and was a member of St. John Catholic Church. She enjoyed reading, eating sweets and all things Elvis Presley. A rosary will be held at Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence on Tuesday, November 20th at 6:00 pm. Graveside services will be on Wednesday, November 21st at 11:00 am at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
