Joseph A. Lucas, 85, passed away November 13, 2018, in the presence of family, in his Kenhorst residence, where he resided with his wife for 53 years.

He was the beloved husband of Helen L. (Kusior) Lucas, with whom he celebrated 56 years of marriage before her passing on July 10, 2017.

Born in Pottsville, he was the eldest child of the late Anthony and Julia (Fox) Lucas of Port Carbon, PA.

Joseph was a 1951 graduate of St. Stephen's High School, Port Carbon, PA and a 1960 graduate of the University of Scranton, where he received his B.S. in Business Administration.

He was a U.S. Air Force veteran serving during the Korean Conflict, stationed in Texas in the early 1950's.

Joseph was employed for 33 years as an accountant for Lucent Technology of Reading, formerly Western Electric Company retiring in 1993.

He was a parishioner of the former St. Anthony of Padua R.C. Church, Millmont and of St. John the Baptist de la Salle R. C. Church, Shillington.

He was an avid and talented golfer who enjoyed his weekly outings with his golf buddies at many local courses. He also enjoyed traveling the United States and Europe with his wife Helen.

Joseph is survived by two siblings, Br. Christopher (Thomas) Lucas, Bardstown, KY; and Ellen M. McGrath, West Wyomissing, PA. He is also survived and will be deeply missed by numerous nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his son, John M. Lucas, a brother, William J. Lucas, and a niece, Kathleen Macluskie.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, November 20, 2018 at 10:30 am in St. John the Baptist de la Salle R.C. Church, 42 Kerrick Rd, Shillington, PA 19607 with burial to follow at Gethsemane Cemetery, Laureldale, PA.
