Terry Gordon Powell, 55, of 1134 Dawson Trail, Alton, died Tuesday, November 13, 2018. Born in Durham County, he was the son of Lewis Gordon Powell, Jr. and Brenda Roycroft Dixon, who survives. He was a member of Alton Baptist Church. Terry enjoyed hunting and was a former member of the Alton Hunting Club. During Christmas time he was know as the Alton Santa. He was an avid race fan and enjoyed working in the pit crew.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife Robin Dawson Powell of the home; one sister, Carol P. Teague of Timberlake; three nieces: Destiney Dennis, Ann Elizabeth Bottoms, and Michaela Wilson; two nephews: Dawson Bottoms and Michael Wilson.

Funeral services will be held 3PM Saturday, November 17, 2018, at Alton Baptist Church by the Rev. Vance Midgett and the Rev. Tim Bowes. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held 6:30-8PM Friday at the Brooks & White Funeral Home and at other times at the home.

Pallbearers will be Tony Conner, Wesley Whitlow, Andy Snow, Lee Pulliam, Dawson Bottoms, Dwayne Clayton, Bradsher Weaver and Archie Adams. Honorary pallbearers will be Cliff Bunnell, Clay Bunnell, Michael Clayton and Staley Epps.
