Obituary:
Robert Augustus Burley departed this life after his battle with Sarcoidosis for 20 plus years. He lost that battle on November 12, 2018 at John Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland at the age of 52 surrounded by his family.

Robert was born March 25, 1966 in Baltimore, Maryland to Ronald Edward Burley Sr. and Mary Anne Burley who preceded him in death. Robert was the fifth of nine children. Robert received his education and graduated from George G. Kelson Elementary School and Garrison Junior High School in Baltimore, Maryland. He also attended and graduated from Model Secondary School for the deaf (MSSD) at Gallaudet University in Washington, D.C. After graduating from MSSD Robert lived his life in Virginia where he married Teresa Pegram and from that union he fathered two children Trisha Noelle Burley and Robert David Burley. Robert worked many different jobs in Richmond, Virginia before becoming employed by the U.S. Postal Service in 1992 before he left on disability retirement in 2007 due to complications from his sarcoidosis. He returned to Baltimore, Maryland in 2012 where he lived out the rest of his life.

When Robert was a young boy he was playing with his fire truck and police car making siren noises and woke the entire house. His father shouted "stop that noise" but Robert continued. His father came closer and snatched the toys from him saying "I told you to stop that noise you woke everybody up!" Robert stated "I didn't know that because I can't hear my voice being loud." It was at that moment his parents realized he may be deaf. They took him to a hospital and it was confirmed that he was deaf. But Robert did not want to go to a special school and wear a hearing device, however, after a long while he got used to it. He loved passionately and would help anyone who asked often times traveling between states giving rides. Robert would speak his mind regardless of who you were. He would always ask questions and would say "Now listen to me ok, I know what I'm talking about because I have experience." When it came to parties and family gatherings Robert was the life of the party you couldn't help but love him even when he made fun of you, he always had a song he made up or heard to sing. When his cousin fell from a sky light and broke his arm Robert sang R Kelly's "I believe I can Fly" and his cousin laughed so hard he forgot about the pain in his arm. He would also sing or make up songs to get him through good and bad times. A few days before his passing Robert sang his last song "Mmm Mmm (the sound elders of a family would make) Mmm Mmm, don't cry for me, Imma be alright, just wipe the tears from your eyes, Imma be alright, Mmm Mmm. Robert was a diehard Raven's fan, so much so that he named his youngest daughter Raven. He loved #52 Ray Lewis and asked to be laid to rest in a #52 Raven Jersey. Robert will be truly missed by his family, friends, and anyone that came into contact with him.

Robert leaves to mourn: His children Mrs. Trisha Noelle Burley-Butler, Mr. Robert David Burley, and Miss Raven Ellis, A son-in-law Brandon Butler, Three grandsons, Kamonte Burley, William Butler, and Terrell Duncan, Four brothers, Ronald E Burley Jr., Gregory J.
