Joe “Hot Rod” Dixon was born Jan. 22, 1953 in Strong to Lovell and Iteria Dixon. He was a member of Victory Church in El Dorado, and a former employee of the Strong School District, Cooper Tire and the CADC.

Joe passed on Wednesday, June 27, 2018 at Medical Center of South Arkansas. He is preceded in death by his father, sister, and grandparents.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Faye Dixon; his mother, Iteria Dixon, Strong; sons, Cedric Dixon (Dewanda), Strong, Tyrin Gatson (Melissa) Farmerville, Louisiana, and Derrick Dixon El Dorado; daughters, LaShema Ross (Reginald) Cedar Hill, Texas, LaToya Smith Little Rock, LaTonya Hewitt (Ronald) Kansas City, Missouri and LaKetria Atkins, Arlington, Texas; sisters, Angela Jones (Garrett) Maumelle, and Linda Dixon Milwaukee, Wisconsin; a brother, Nuriddeen Muhammad, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; twenty-three grandchildren, two great-grandchildren.

Public visitation will be from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Friday, July 6, 2018 at Sims Mortuary. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. on Saturday, July 7, 2018 at Douglas Chapel Baptist Church with the Rev. Larry Smith, eulogist. Interment at Piney Grove Cemetery, Strong, under the direction of Sims Mortuary
