Vernon Wayne "Pokie" Bailey On November 11, 2018, the Lord in His infinite wisdom, called our loved one, Vernon Wayne Bailey "Pokie" from labor to rest. He was born on March 15, 1956, to the late Proffitt Norman Bailey and Dorothy Rosser Jones. He was raised by the late Curtis W. Haskins. He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents. Pokie, as he was fondly known, was baptized at an early age at Silver Grove Baptist Church. He served in the United States Marine Corp for four years. He retired from Campbell County after 27 years of service. Pokie was an avid Washington Red Skin fan and enjoyed fishing. He was a family man who loved his family, friends, and his job. Pokie leaves to cherish his precious memories, his devoted and loving wife, Kim Anthony Bailey; his beloved daughter, Jessica Sherrie Clarke (Nicholas); stepmother, Barbara, five sisters and four brothers, four aunts, devoted cousins and friends, and a host of nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, November 17, 2018, at Silver Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. William Glover, officiating. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the service. The interment will be held in the church cemetery. Military rites will be held by American Legion Post 16. Service of comfort rendered by Davis-Turner Funeral Service.
