Mr. Simmons, born in Franklin, WV; was the son of the late Robert Johnson and Nora Hartman Nesselrodt and the step son of the late Raymond Simmons. He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Billy Ratliff, Everette Shrader and Raymond "Buddy" Simmons; two sisters, Dorothy Hartman and Shirley Miller.
He worked as a saw operator at Ethan Allen in Bridgewater, VA for over 30 years. He was a member of the Riverside united Methodist Church. He married his Evon Hedrick Simmons who survives him on Sept. 26, 1965.
He is survived by his wife , Evon Marie Hedrick Simmons of the home; two daughters, Connie Sulser (Charles) of Petersburg, WV; Loretta Cook (Wesley) of Barndywine, WV; a son, Robert Simmons (Tina) of Lacey Springs, VA; two brothers, Stanley Simmons (Kay) of Upper Tract, WV; and Jerry Simmons of Petersburg, WV; seven grandchildren; eight great grandchildren.
