Ruth Victoria Johnston, 72, of Midland, after enduring a debilitating and painful battle with liver disease, went to be with our Lord, Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2018. She was an incredibly strong, loving, and selfless woman, wife, mother, grandmother, and aunt.
Ruth was born to the late A. D. and Coral (Amidon) Ordiway, October 30, 1946. Ruth married Jerome Johnston, Aug. 28, 1967 in Midland.
Ruth was artistic with a selfless, loving soul. She enjoyed making crafts, volunteering in many different capacities including Scouting, bowling, the outdoors, camping, and fishing. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her immediate and extended family. Ruth is best remembered for her contagious smile, infectious laugh, and positive energy.
Surviving is her husband of 51 years, Jerome Johnston; sons, Mark Johnston and Matthew (Lisa) Johnston; daughter, Marti Sullivan; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; siblings, Jim (Jean) Ordiway, Dean (CeCe) Ordiway, and Carl (Barb) Ordiway; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by her son, Michael Johnston; brothers, Bill Ordiway and Frank Ordiway; and sister, Nancy Johnson.
A Celebration of Life and service for Ruth Victoria Johnston will be Nov. 20, 2018 at St. Agnes Catholic Parish in Sanford, Mich. Gathering will be at 10 a.m., service at 11 a.m., and a luncheon following the Mass. The internment will take place the following day, Nov. 21, 10:30 a.m. at New Calvary Cemetery, 2743 E. Bombay Road, Midland.
