Ruth was born September 21, 1921 in Quincy, Illinois, the daughter of Elmer August Peter and Hildegarde Gertrude Winking Huseman. She married John Will Jackson on March 20, 1943 in Quincy. He preceded her in death on January 18, 1993.
She attended Irving Elementary School and graduated from Quincy Senior High School in 1939. She received her nursing degree from St. Mary’s in 1942 and worked as a RN for St. Mary’s Hospital off and on.
Ruth loved to walk and the Quincy bus drivers knew her very well, as she would always us their transportation. She was a proud member of the local P.O.W. group in Quincy, and volunteered at the Red Cross earlier in life. Ruth was an expert cook and baker, never using a recipe for her dishes. She loved to fish, listening to music and dance to the Big Bands. Ruth was a big Chicago Cubs fan. He daily motto was “Never lose you sense of humor.”
Ruth is survived by: a son, John (Linda) Jackson, Jr. of Lake Saint Louis, MO; two daughters, Katie (Louis) Tiberi of Crete, IL, and Barbara (Richard) Dedert of Quincy; five grandchildren, Dawn (Rik) Nemanick of St. Louis, MO, Dena (Rick) Derickson, of O’Fallon, MO, Tom Jackson, of Hazelwood, MO, Christina (Mike) Mastio, of Parkville, MO, and R. Nicholas (Rebecca) Dedert, of Quincy; 11 great grandchildren, Sydney Wuebbels, of O’Fallon, MO, Sarah Nemanick, of St. Louis, MO, Jackson Wuebbels, of O’Fallon, MO, Katherine Nemanick, of St. Louis, MO, Bren Nicole Mastio, Trey Mastio, and Keely Ruth Mastio, all of Parkville, MO, Samantha and Drew Dedert, and Breeann Pullins, all of Quincy, and Nicholas Pullins, of Cathage, IL; two great-great grandchildren, Kayson Pullins, of Hamilton, IL, and Leah Pullins, of Quincy; and numerous nieces and cousins.
In addition to her husband, John, Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, and two brothers, Arthur “Bump” Huseman, and Charles “Chic” Huseman.
Services: 1:00 pm Friday, November 16, 2018 at Good Samaritan Home Wee Kirk Chapel, with Chaplain James Riley officiating.
Burial: Greenmount Cemetery, Quincy, Illinois
