Tonya Yevette Lawson, age 53 of Carrollton, passed away Tuesday, November 13, 2018. She was born January 07, 1965 in Atlanta, Georgia, daughter to Helen Johnson and the late Ronald Walters. She was a graduate from Carrollton High School and West Georgia College. She worked for Grady Hospitals, Pathways, Oak Mountain Animal Hospital and later for Spay and Neuter Clinic in Villa Rica. She was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church, Sisters in Christ Sunday School Class and formerly a member of the Roaring 20’s Sunday School Class. In addition to her father, she is preceded in death by her step-father, Leon Johnson; and adoptive parents, Hollis and Ethlyn Lawson. She is survived by her mother, Helen Johnson; sisters, Dorothy Johnson and Cynthia Harvey; brothers, Derreck Banks and Michael Johnson; roommate, Cyndee Williams; church family from Tabernacle Baptist Church, and a host of friends, cousins, aunts and uncles. Funeral service will be conducted Thursday, November 15, 2018 at 3:00 PM from the Chapel at Tabernacle Baptist Church with Dr. Stephen Allen officiating. Rev. Mary Lou Grimmett will deliver the eulogy. Her body will be placed in the church at 2:00 PM for visitation. Interment will follow in Carroll Memory Gardens. Those serving as pallbearers will be Derreck Banks, Michael Johnson, Leon Harvey, Ken Brockman, Joel Neeley, and Kevin Graham.
