Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday at St. Mary Catholic Church, Chilton. The Rev. Paul Brick will officiate and burial will be in Knollwood Gardens Cemetery.
Mr. Gates was born March 5, 1930, at Two Rivers, son of the late John A. and Helen Cerull Gates. He married Arlene Gates (sic) Nov. 14, 1953, at Chilton. Mr. Gates was employed at Tecumseh Products of New Holstein. He was formerly employed by Hamilton Industries, Mirro Aluminum and Sorge Dairy all of Manitowoc, Streu Construction Company of Two Rivers and was former owner and operator of Wie Gates Restaurant in Chilton. Mr. Gates was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church., Chilton, V.F.W. Post 3153, Knights of Columbus and was Grand Knight in 1972.
Survivors include his wife, Arlene; a son, Jack Gates of Chilton; four daughters, Mrs. Ralph (Kay Ann) Buris of Carlsbad, New Mexico, Mrs. Richard (Renee) Baltz and Mrs. Steven (Peggy) Rusch both of Chilton and Sherri Gates of Appleton, and 18 grandchildren.
Friends may call at Wieting Funeral Home, Chilton, 4 o’clock this Sunday afternoon and Monday from 7:45 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. when family rites will be held. V.F.W. Post Memorial Service will be 7:15 o’clock this Sunday at the funeral home, a Knights of Columbus Rosary will be 7:30 o’clock and a parish vigil will be 8 o’clock. A memorial fund has been established in Mr. Gates’ name.
