Phyllis Morehead Hill passed away on Wednesday, November 7, 2018 at Morrison House with her loving husband of 57 years by her side.
She was born July 21, 1938 in Hopewell, Ohio the daughter of the late Charles Cecil and Lilly Morehead. She graduated from Hopewell High School in 1957 and worked at Ohio Bell from 1957 to 1965. She married Ellis R. Hill on April 2, 1961 and began the adventurous and fulfilling life as a farmer’s wife. Together they had 6 children, and Phyllis enjoyed supporting them in all of their endeavors, including sports and 4-H. In recent years you could find her at one of her grandchildren’s football, baseball or basketball games or just outside of the ring watching the steer show at the county fair. She attended Westwood Baptist Church and was a member of the Muskingum County Republican Club.
Phyllis is survived by her devoted husband, Ellis; brothers, William and Marion Morehead, both of Zanesville; sons Brian (Tracie) and Darin (Stephanie), both of Zanesville; a son, Daniel (Lynn) of Leetonia, Ohio; a daughter, Mendi Battin (Ernie) of Syracuse, Kansas; grandchildren Brittni (Jordan) Butler; Kaitlyn (Troy) Scheiderer; Corey (Abby), Carter, Caleb, Kaleigh, Cameron, and Conner Hill and Isabelle, Asher and Beckett Battin; great-grandchildren Jakob and Kade Butler, Melisa McCoy and Sawyer Scheiderer and Carsen Hill.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, David Hill and a daughter, Melisa Hill Graham; brothers Freddy, Howard, Russell, James and George Morehead; sisters Elenor Crawford and Sarah Wells.
Friends and family may call from 2-4 & 5-8 p.m. Friday November 9, 2018 at the William Thompson and Son Funeral Home 5765 Gladstone Drive in White Cottage. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday November 10, 2018 at Gratiot United Methodist Church where friends may call from 10:00 a.m. until time of service with Dr. Mark E. Ballmer officiating with burial to follow in Poplar Fork Cemetery in Gratiot.
