Wayne Adolphus Lawrence of Memphis, Tennessee, born in Booneville, Mississippi, went to be with the Lord on Monday, July 16, 2018, surrounded by his family. He was 94 years old.

The son of Gladys Johnson and Roy A. Lawrence, Wayne is preceded in death by his first wife, Martha Marie Lawrence whom he was married to for 52 years before her passing, and his sister Mary Faulkner.

He is survived by his four children: Jerry Lawrence, Kenneth Lawrence, Lisa Vance, and Michael Lawrence, and by his wife, Ginny Lawrence. Wayne was proud to be a World War II veteran, serving in the United States Army in both France and Germany. By direction of the President, he was awarded the Bronze Star Medal for heroic achievement in action in 1945 in Buchhof, Germany where he risked his life under heavy sniper and mortar fire to rescue a fellow soldier. In addition to the Bronze Star Medal, Wayne wore the Combat Infantry Badge, two battle stars, the Good Conduct Ribbon and the ETO Ribbon.

During his career, Wayne was an agent and sales manager at Life of Georgia for 31 years, where he qualified for four President’s Clubs, ten Honor/Pacesetter Clubs, and eight National Sales Achievement Awards.
