My Father,(Scots/Irish/one drop of German) served in WWII in the USN married 44 years to Virginia G Worley Miller Brown, had 3 children, Suzan T. Brown, Saundra L. Brown and Allen Brown. and many grand children. He was kind man, he never met a stranger, tho reserved. He was a proud Navy Man, loved his country. He would always lend a helping hand to those in need even if he really did not have it to give. My father was one of 2 children, a sister Theresa Alice Brown later married Fred Nebles of Washington, DC. My father took care of his father until he died as his father did. There was no such thing as social security then, My grand father Albert, worked until he was 73 years old for the US Goverment like his father Samuel did, Samuel died at 76 as did Albert, my Dad was not so lucky to live that long, he died of cancer from radiation exposure in Pearl Harbor,as well as carrying men from a burning merchant ship and the HMS ARROW 8/1943 ~ which he did receive honors for this bravery yet he died at 57, all the cancers started on the skin, and he fought a good fight to survive, just too much damage to him in his younger years he never complained, only concerned about leaving his wife Virginia behind. Infact I cannot ever remember my father complaining about anything other then war and politics~I loved him very much, he was my HERO~
